Job Summary
To support clinical operations, a part-time PRN Missouri Licensed Coding Specialist will review and analyze medical records for inpatient and outpatient services, assigning appropriate diagnoses and charge codes while adhering to ethical coding standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review and analyze documentation in medical records to assign diagnoses and procedure codes
- Collaborate with clinical co-workers on facility and professional coding responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and ethical standards set by the American Health Information Management Association
Required qualifications
- A.S. from an accredited Nursing or Health Information Management program or equivalent clinical experience
- At least 5 years of coding and/or charging experience in ICD-10-CM/PCS and/or HCPCS/CPT coding
- Working knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology, MS-DRG, APC, or MPFS/RVU methodologies
- Certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, COC, or CIRCC, or completion within 6 months of employment
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and coding classification systems
