Job Summary
Detail-oriented and passionate about precision, the full-time Missouri Licensed Medical Coding Specialist will review provider documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes, while working remotely with a flexible schedule that includes one weekend day.
Key responsibilities
- Review clinical documentation to determine principal diagnoses and assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Participate in audits and troubleshooting for coding and billing accuracy, as well as assist in training for new software applications
- Extract and enter information into coding systems while adhering to coding productivity standards and ethical guidelines
Required qualifications
- Completion of a coding certification program or equivalent training in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 coding systems
- One of the following certifications within one year of employment: CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, COC, or CIC
- At least one year of related medical records coding experience may be considered in lieu of certification
