Job Summary

Experienced in complex underwriting, the fully remote Missouri Licensed Senior Mortgage Underwriter (DE/LAPP/SAR) will manage a diverse pipeline of FHA, VA, and conventional loans while applying sound credit judgment and collaborating closely with loan officers and processors to ensure fast and accurate closings.

Key responsibilities

• Own and underwrite a diverse pipeline of loans from submission to clear-to-close, applying credit judgment on complex files
• Serve as a strategic resource for loan officers and processors on difficult-to-structure deals, maintaining zero-defect quality standards
• Utilize Encompass LOS and collaborate with team members to elevate efficiency and support accurate credit decisions

Required qualifications

• Active FHA DE certification with a valid CHUMS ID, VA SAR, or LAPP authority
• 3-5 years of continuous, frontline retail residential mortgage underwriting experience
• Demonstrated mastery of DU and LPA automated underwriting systems and proficiency with Encompass LOS
• Deep working knowledge of FHA, VA, and conventional conforming guidelines; familiarity with USDA or bond/grant programs is a plus
• Self-directed work style with strong interpersonal skills to explain complex credit decisions clearly
