Modern Orthodox Educator

Job Summary

To support and inspire Jewish learning and engagement, the part-time Modern Orthodox Educator in Residence will visit UMass Hillel for 2-3 Shabbatot per semester and several fall chaggim, while also providing ongoing remote support and mentorship to students.

Key responsibilities

• Nurture the growth of the UMass observant community through visits and engagement
• Teach and facilitate learning opportunities, creating meaningful connections with Jewish texts and wisdom
• Build relationships with students through pastoral care, mentorship, and halachic support

Required qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Jewish content, including traditional texts and contemporary Jewish wisdom
• Experience in Jewish leadership or educational positions, particularly within Modern Orthodox communities
• Ability to make Jewish tradition accessible to students from diverse backgrounds
• Warm and engaging personality, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive community
• Availability for ongoing remote support and potential weekly or biweekly learning sessions
