Mortgage Underwriter

Job Summary

Ensuring compliance with investor guidelines, the full-time remote Mortgage Underwriter will review mortgage applications for accuracy, approve or deny loans, and collaborate with clients and compliance officers to resolve issues and maintain regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Decide on a full range of mortgage loans, including FHA loans
• Review mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Work with compliance officers to ensure adherence to Federal, State, and local regulations

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and automated underwriting systems
• Understanding of mortgage laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act
• Familiarity with state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines
