Mortgage Underwriter (FHA/VA Certified)

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Mortgage Loan Underwriter to analyze mortgage loan files for compliance and salability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough analysis of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with guidelines
• Make independent loan decisions and document findings in the Encompass LOS
• Collaborate with processing staff to address underwriting deficiencies and maintain service standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of recent residential mortgage underwriting experience
• 6+ years of experience in the mortgage industry
• Ability to underwrite mortgage loan files for agency compliance and investor guidelines
• Certifications such as FHA DE and/or VA LAPP/SAR are highly preferred
• Experience with Jumbo loans and manual underwriting is preferred
