Mortgage Underwriter I

Job Summary

Performing a limited review of various loan types, the full-time Mortgage Underwriter I will manage an individual pipeline, review underwriting conditions, and assist in interpreting guidelines while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily pipeline by completing underwriting reviews, appraisal reviews, and clearing conditions
• Identify document deficiencies, request additional information, and provide updates to clients on outstanding conditions
• Assist team members in interpreting underwriting guidelines and perform independent research on guidelines and overlays

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience in the mortgage industry or residential mortgage loan underwriting
• High school diploma required
• Intermediate knowledge of residential mortgage industry practices and applicable regulatory compliance
• Entry level to intermediate knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines
• Entry level to intermediate knowledge of MS Office products and Encompass
