Mortgage Underwriter III

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Underwriter III to analyze and assess mortgage loans in compliance with lending guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert in credit and collateral risk, providing support to other underwriters
• Approve or deny real estate loans within assigned authority and prepare recommendations for loans exceeding that authority
• Communicate credit decisions and underwriting conditions effectively to the loan team and assist in problem resolution

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of mortgage lending experience, with at least 5 years in mortgage underwriting
• FHA and VA underwriting experience, including DE and LAPP designations, is a plus
• Proficiency in automated underwriting systems such as Desktop Underwriter and Loan Product Advisor
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and mortgage investor standards
