Job Summary
Assuming full ownership of end-to-end payroll operations, the part-time Multi-State Payroll Specialist will manage complex monthly payroll runs for domestic employees and global contractors, focusing on multi-state tax compliance and process documentation in a contract role.
Key responsibilities
- Execute all multi-cadence domestic payroll runs and coordinate global contractor pay
- Administer ad-hoc and off-cycle payroll runs, including bonuses and retroactive adjustments
- Own the setup and maintenance of state payroll tax accounts, interacting with state agencies to resolve issues
Required qualifications
- 2-4 years of direct experience managing high-volume, multi-state payroll processing
- Proven track record handling state tax registrations and resolving agency notices
- Hands-on experience with 401(k) match processing and benefits deduction reconciliations
- Deep operational familiarity with modern HRIS platforms
- Demonstrable experience executing year-end processing and W-2 reconciliations
