Job Summary

Owning end-to-end multi-state payroll processing, the full-time Payroll & Business Tax Specialist will manage payroll operations, ensure employer tax compliance, and oversee business licensing administration for a remote-first workforce of approximately 230 employees.

Key responsibilities
  • Process biweekly payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple states and manage off-cycle payrolls and adjustments
  • Ensure timely filing and remittance of federal, state, and local employer payroll taxes while maintaining compliance with tax obligations
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of business licenses and operating permits, ensuring continuous compliance across all jurisdictions
Required qualifications
  • 3+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience, including knowledge of California payroll requirements
  • Solid understanding of federal and state employer payroll tax obligations and filing requirements
  • Experience with business license administration or a willingness to fully manage it
  • Proficiency with modern HRIS/payroll platforms, with Rippling experience strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
