Multimodality Research Lead

Job Summary

Building a new team from the ground up, the full-time Multimodality Research Lead will own the multimodality direction at Poolside, focusing on developing image input capabilities and advancing toward native multimodal understanding while collaborating with various teams in a fully remote environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own Poolside's multimodality direction and capability adoption
• Ship the first image-input capabilities and drive the transition from adapter-based to native multimodality
• Run experiments end to end, including hypothesis formulation, implementation, and analysis

Required qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end training of production-grade VLMs
• Strong fundamentals in LLM training, including transformers and distributed training at scale
• Proficient in Python programming
• Demonstrated ownership and ability to work effectively in ambiguous environments
• Leadership experience with substantial breadth and hands-on contributions is a plus
