Neurosurgery Coder Abstractor

Job Summary

A company is looking for a Coder Abstractor - Neurosurgery - REMOTE.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the charge capture process for professional charges, including verifying medical records and assigning diagnostic codes
• Review and interpret physician documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing within specified accuracy rates
• Serve as a resource for coding and compliance questions, and assist in training new employees in the coding area

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• Associate's degree in Health Record Technology or related field with two years of professional coding experience, or three years of coding experience with relevant credentials
• Must obtain Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credentials within 18 months of employment if not already held
• At least two years of experience in neurosurgery coding is required
• Experience in resolving coding discrepancies and ensuring compliance
• Ability to perform accurate data entry of charges and maintain education relevant to the position
