Job Summary
To support coding operations, the part-time Remote OP Facility Coder will review and code inpatient and outpatient hospital records, ensuring compliance with regulations while maintaining productivity and accuracy standards.
Key responsibilities
- Code various medical records, including inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services, using ICD-9/10 CM and CPT-4 classification systems
- Review complete medical records to assign appropriate codes for financial reimbursement and research in accordance with federal regulations
- Resolve pre-bill edits and denials for assigned accounts while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- One of the following coding certifications at time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, or RHIT/RHIA, with achievement of one within one year of hire
- Three to five years of coding experience required
- Inpatient coding experience preferred
