Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Cost and Capital Assets, the full-time salaried New York Capital Assets Analyst will manage the daily operations of the university's capital asset function, support financial statement preparation, and oversee depreciation calculations while working remotely from anywhere in the United States.
Key responsibilities
- Process capital asset-related entries in the general ledger and maintain the capital asset system module
- Perform detailed data analysis and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and government regulations
- Prepare required reports and collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial statement audits
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
- Understanding of GAAP, capital asset accounting principles, and depreciation methodologies
- Experience preparing or supporting financial statements and audit processes
- Proficiency with general ledger systems and advanced Excel skills for data analysis
- Knowledge of compliance requirements related to sponsored property and ability to develop training materials
