New York CPA Director of Accounting

Job Summary

Leading a team of 10 in a full-time salaried role, the New York CPA Director of Accounting will manage the accounting services vertical, overseeing bookkeeping, monthly reporting, and audit readiness for a multi-client portfolio, while also partnering with firm leaders to establish firm-wide standards and workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document firm-wide standards for client Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and general ledger processes
• Review and approve monthly financial statements prior to client distribution, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Manage client relationships, including scoping, pricing, onboarding, and resolving escalations while identifying expansion opportunities

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA (or active candidate) preferred
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in a consulting and advisory firm, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
• Strong working knowledge of financial processes including AP, AR, and period-end close
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as Excel, NetSuite, QuickBooks, and others
