New York Licensed Legal Director
Job Summary
Owning the compliance program and legal oversight, the full-time remote New York Licensed Legal Director will manage compliance across multiple entities, negotiate contracts with carriers and vendors, and provide legal support for the company's digital platform and privacy obligations.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and mature the existing compliance program, ensuring adherence to policies, training, and regulatory obligations
- Negotiate carrier appointments and manage vendor contracts while serving as the primary legal contact for all contractual matters
- Advise on legal aspects of the digital platform, focusing on privacy compliance and AI governance
Required qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one US jurisdiction; New York bar membership preferred
- 8-10 years of combined law firm and in-house legal experience, specifically in the insurance industry
- Working knowledge of surplus lines regulation and experience with MGA, MGU, or program business
- Demonstrated experience negotiating carrier binding authority and vendor contracts
- Experience operating and maturing a compliance program
