New York Licensed Medical Coder

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the New York Licensed Medical Coder will review codes for accuracy, troubleshoot claims issues, and ensure compliance with coding rules and policies.

Key responsibilities

• Review and correct codes created by electronic charge capture, ensuring accuracy before transmittal
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues preventing claims from being released, providing feedback for corrections
• Respond to coding inquiries and consult with internal and external stakeholders for clarification on documentation

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 1 year of Medical Coder experience required
• Associate's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of ICD-10CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems required
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
• Preferred certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CMC
