New York Licensed Medical Coder

Job Summary

Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of medical codes, the full-time New York Licensed Medical Coder will perform system edit reviews, troubleshoot claims issues, and respond to coding inquiries while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Reviews and corrects codes created by electronic charge capture according to coding rules and policies
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues preventing claims from being released by analyzing patient encounters
• Responds to coding information requests and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders for clarification on documentation

Required qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of Medical Coder experience required
• Associate's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of ICD-10CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems required
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
• Preferred certifications include RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CMC
