Job Summary
To support the Court Advocacy Services team, the full-time New York Licensed Mitigation Specialist will conduct detailed investigations and biopsychosocial assessments to assist defense counsel, advocate for alternatives to incarceration, and maintain flexible in-person and remote work arrangements.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop client-specific service plans
- Advocate orally and in writing to the Court, District Attorney's Office, and Department of Probation
- Document client progress and maintain communication with external agencies for additional services
Required qualifications:
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Forensic Psychology, or a similar field
- Minimum of two years of professional experience in a criminal justice environment
- Experience conducting investigations and writing court reports, such as Pre-Plea and Pre-Sentence Memorandums
- Experience working with clients with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders
- Familiarity with court advocacy and managing a caseload of clients with varying needs
