New York Licensed Teacher for the Deaf Hard of Hearing

Job Summary

A school district is seeking a New York Licensed Teacher for the Deaf Hard of Hearing.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging virtual lessons aligned with the curriculum for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Utilize appropriate technology to ensure effective communication with students
• Provide individualized instruction and support based on students' specific learning goals and accommodations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
• Valid New York State teaching certification/license in Deaf Education or Special Education (specific to deaf and hard of hearing students)
• Proven experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a virtual or online education setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication modalities used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and software used in virtual education for deaf and hard of hearing students
