New York Literacy Consultant

Job Summary

To support district partners in New York, the part-time Literacy Consultant will deliver professional learning and coaching focused on structured literacy practices and foundational reading skills through both virtual and in-person facilitation.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate professional learning sessions using adult learning methodologies to enhance structured literacy practices
• Coach classroom teachers and instructional coaches on implementing foundational reading skills and structured literacy instruction
• Provide feedback during the coaching cycle to identify areas for progress and development

Required qualifications

• Master's Degree (or progress toward a degree) in education or a reading-related field
• 3-5 years of experience facilitating professional learning in literacy and/or reading
• 3-5 years of teaching or instructional coaching experience
• Deep knowledge of systematic and explicit instruction in foundational reading skills
• Experience teaching Multi-Lingual Learners or bilingual proficiency is a plus
