New York Literacy Consultant

Job Summary

To support district partners across the region, the part-time Literacy Consultant will deliver literacy-based professional learning and coaching, utilizing both virtual and in-person facilitation to enhance structured literacy practices.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate professional learning sessions using adult learning methodologies to support structured literacy practices
• Coach classroom teachers and instructional leaders on implementing foundational reading skills and structured literacy instruction
• Provide feedback during the coaching cycle to identify areas for progress and development opportunities

Required qualifications

• Master's Degree (or progress toward a degree) in education or a reading-related field
• 3-5 years of experience facilitating professional learning in literacy and/or reading
• 3-5 years of teaching or instructional coaching experience
• Deep knowledge of systematic and explicit instruction in foundational reading skills
• Understanding of language acquisition theories and their application to instructional strategies
