New York State Licensed Teacher for the Deaf Hard of Hearing

Job Summary

A school district in New York is seeking a New York State Licensed Teacher for the Deaf Hard of Hearing.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver virtual lessons aligned with the curriculum to meet the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Utilize technology to ensure effective communication with students, such as video conferencing and sign language interpreters
• Provide individualized instruction and support based on students' learning goals, abilities, and accommodations

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
• New York State teaching certification/license in Deaf Education or Special Education for deaf and hard of hearing students
• Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a virtual or online education setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with other communication modalities used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and software used in virtual education for deaf and hard of hearing students
