Job Summary
Overseeing daily newsroom operations, the full-time News Editor will manage local news coverage across print and digital platforms, assign stories, edit content for accuracy, and uphold ethical journalism standards while working in a mixed newsroom/office environment with options for remote or hybrid work.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage daily and weekly news coverage for print and online platforms
- Edit articles for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to AP Style and ethical journalism standards
- Mentor reporters by providing constructive feedback to develop their writing and reporting skills
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of newsroom experience in reporting or editing, preferably in a local news environment
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and oversee several projects simultaneously
- Experience with CMS platforms and digital publishing tools
- Familiarity with multimedia storytelling and SEO best practices preferred
