Nigerian Pidgin Linguist

Job Summary

To support sensitive law enforcement work, the part-time Nigerian Pidgin Linguist will perform real-time and recorded transcription from Nigerian Pidgin to English, ensuring accurate documentation and communication of pertinent information while working remotely on an as-needed basis.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe live or recorded communications in Nigerian Pidgin and produce verbal and written synopses as required
• Communicate relevant information to law enforcement personnel in a timely manner during live monitoring
• Maintain a master list of slang terms and codes, and produce court-ready transcriptions of pertinent calls and documents

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in Nigerian Pidgin
• Knowledge of Nigerian Pidgin colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions
• Ability to achieve a score of 3 or better on a third-party language assessment in English and Nigerian Pidgin
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
