Nights Editor
Job Summary
Leading the after-hours news operation, the full-time Nights Editor will oversee writers, curate the news list, assign and edit stories, and handle breaking news in a fully remote environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and prioritize breaking entertainment news stories, ensuring the edit queue is cleared before the end of the shift
- Provide feedback and guidance to writers to enhance their news judgment and story development skills
- Report and write engaging entertainment access stories as needed
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3-5 years of experience in journalism, including at least 2 years in an editing role
- Strong knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and the EW brand
- Experience with SEO, social media, content management systems, and analytics tools
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively
