Job Summary
To support a remote coding program, the part-time Credentialed Coder will perform technical and administrative work by reviewing, abstracting, and assigning medical and surgical codes for inpatient and outpatient diagnoses, procedures, and services in compliance with regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Review and assign accepted medical and surgical codes for various diagnoses and procedures
- Ensure compliance with third-party, state, and federal regulations according to standardized procedures
- Utilize knowledge of coding guidelines and systems to maintain accuracy and quality in coding tasks
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- AHIMA or AAPC certification and credential
- Minimum of two years of coding experience
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS and/or HCPCS/CPT coding
- Familiarity with Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) and Medical Severity Diagnosis Related Groups (MS-DRG) systems
