Job Summary
To support the Duke Primary Care Patient Engagement Center, the part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will manage patient interactions through telephonic assistance, collect medical histories, monitor vital signs, and perform various clinical and administrative tasks in a high-volume call center environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Collect medical histories, monitor vital signs, and prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing billing, and coordinating referrals
- Provide compassionate telephonic support for patients regarding their healthcare needs and ensure timely communication with care teams
Required qualifications:
- North Carolina Certified Medical Assistant certification required prior to starting the position
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred; high school or GED graduation required
- Experience levels vary: Level I requires no experience, Level II requires at least 1 year in a clinical setting, and Level III requires at least 3 years
- BLS certification required
- Strong customer service skills and familiarity with medical terminology preferred for Levels II and III
