Job Summary
Supporting the criminal defense team, the part-time hourly North Carolina Law Clerk will conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and assist attorneys in preparing cases for hearings, negotiations, and trials while accommodating flexible hours for class schedules.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on criminal statutes, case law, and procedural issues
- Draft legal documents, including motions, memoranda, briefs, and discovery summaries
- Assist attorneys with case preparation for hearings, trials, and negotiations
Required qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school or a recent J.D. graduate in North Carolina
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Interest in criminal defense and courtroom litigation
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced legal environment and manage multiple deadlines
