Job Summary

To enhance community health initiatives, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Coder will capture data from medical records for reimbursement and research, collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team, and assign ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes remotely.

Key responsibilities
  • Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes to inpatient and outpatient accounts
  • Collaborate with CDI auditors to obtain clinical documentation that supports appropriate reimbursement
  • Maintain work areas and operate necessary equipment while actively engaging in self-development
Required qualifications
  • Associate degree in healthcare, Health Information Technology, or Nursing (LPN or RN)
  • Preferred graduate from Health Information Technology program
  • Current licensure as an RN or LPN in North Carolina
  • RHIT, RHIA, and/or CCS certification from AHIMA
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare medical coding, specifically with ICD-9 and ICD-10
