Job Summary
To enhance community health initiatives, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Coder will capture data from medical records for reimbursement and research, collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team, and assign ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes to inpatient and outpatient accounts
- Collaborate with CDI auditors to obtain clinical documentation that supports appropriate reimbursement
- Maintain work areas and operate necessary equipment while actively engaging in self-development
Required qualifications
- Associate degree in healthcare, Health Information Technology, or Nursing (LPN or RN)
- Preferred graduate from Health Information Technology program
- Current licensure as an RN or LPN in North Carolina
- RHIT, RHIA, and/or CCS certification from AHIMA
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare medical coding, specifically with ICD-9 and ICD-10
