Job Summary
North Carolina Licensed Coding Specialist, responsible for investigating and resolving claim edits including Correct Coding Initiative and Medically Unlikely Edits, working full-time in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Researches and corrects OCE/CCI and MUE Edit claims for timely and accurate resolution
- Communicates trends in coding accuracy to supervisors and presents external report results
- Reviews and abstracts medical documentation to assign appropriate ICD 10 CM and CPT codes
Required Qualifications, Training, and Education
- Associate Degree or a minimum of two years college education in Health Information Management or related field
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
- Four or more years of acute care outpatient coding experience required
- Preferred experience in assigning modifiers and CPT coding
