Job Summary

To ensure compliance with government regulations, the remote North Carolina Licensed Coding Specialist will implement and maintain compliance programs, educate providers on coding and billing practices, and conduct internal audits while collaborating with clinical staff.

Key responsibilities
  • Educate providers on compliance with regulations, focusing on Medicare and Medicaid guidelines
  • Conduct routine internal audits and identify coding and billing risk areas, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Collaborate with physicians and internal staff to improve documentation, coding, and compliance capabilities
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Four years of administrative experience in compliance, coding, and auditing related to insurance billing
  • Two years of experience with DRGs and APR-DRGs for technical coding roles
  • Certification as RHIA, RHIT, or CCS is required; CPC or CPMA is preferred
  • Experience in formal teaching of coding is preferred
