North Carolina Licensed Environmental Specialist

Job Summary

To support environmental compliance efforts, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Environmental Specialist will conduct inspections of underground storage tank (UST) facilities, ensuring adherence to regulations while working remotely within specified counties.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine compliance and installation inspections of UST facilities and take appropriate enforcement actions as needed
• Respond to citizen reports regarding abandoned USTs and suspected releases, ensuring proper actions are taken
• Provide information on UST rules and requirements to the regulated community and compile reports on inspection results

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental, or natural resource sciences, or a closely related field
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Ability to conduct inspections and enforce compliance with environmental regulations
• Experience in community outreach and training presentations
• Knowledge of UST regulations and leak detection methods
