Job Summary

To support hospital coding operations, the full-time remote North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will assign and review ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and CPT codes for medical services while ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing reimbursement processes.

Key responsibilities
  • Assigns ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes accurately and productively
  • Reviews and applies coding edits from NCD, LCD, and CCI to ensure compliance
  • Provides information to healthcare staff regarding coding practices and regulatory changes
Required qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the UNC HCS Hospital Outpatient Coder Proficiency Test
  • One of the following certifications: AHIMA or AAPC
  • At least 12 months of experience in hospital coding
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding
