Job Summary

To support the Patient Revenue Management Organization, the remote North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will coordinate and review complex medical records coding, ensuring accuracy in ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions while assisting with training and continuing education programs.

Key responsibilities
  • Review and accurately code complex medical records for primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures
  • Coordinate and audit the work of designated employees to ensure quality and compliance with coding guidelines
  • Educate and consult with physicians and staff on coding practices to optimize reimbursement and accuracy
Required qualifications
  • High school diploma required
  • Active certification in RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or HCS-D
  • One year of coding experience required for CCS certification, or two years for CPC or HCS-D certification
  • Thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and coding guidelines
  • Experience with coding software and reimbursement knowledge
