Job Summary
To support hospital operations, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will review, abstract, and assign medical codes for inpatient cases, ensuring compliance with regulations while working remotely.
Key responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient cases, excluding the academic medical center
- Participate in DRG Reconciliation and analyze information for optimal reimbursement
- Provide coding guidance to healthcare staff and query providers for documentation clarification
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of the UNC HCS IP Coder Proficiency Test
- AHIMA or AAPC certification and credential
- Two years of experience in hospital coding
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
