Job Summary

To support hospital operations, the full-time North Carolina Licensed Medical Coder will review, abstract, and assign medical codes for inpatient cases, ensuring compliance with regulations while working remotely.

Key responsibilities
  • Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for inpatient cases, excluding the academic medical center
  • Participate in DRG Reconciliation and analyze information for optimal reimbursement
  • Provide coding guidance to healthcare staff and query providers for documentation clarification
Required qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of the UNC HCS IP Coder Proficiency Test
  • AHIMA or AAPC certification and credential
  • Two years of experience in hospital coding
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
