North Carolina Surgical Coding Auditor

Job Summary

To ensure coding accuracy and compliance, the remote full-time North Carolina Surgical Coding Auditor will perform quality reviews of medical records, validate coding accuracy, and assist with authorization evaluations for procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct quality reviews of medical records to ensure accurate and compliant coding and billing
• Validate surgical/procedural coding accuracy, documentation support, and compliance with coding guidelines
• Assist in evaluating and ensuring proper authorization for procedures performed on the authorized date of service

Required qualifications

• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification
• Five or more years of hospital coding and/or coding auditing experience in a healthcare entity
• Current knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
• Understanding of coding rules, guidelines, and regulatory updates
• Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service aligned with organizational standards
