Job Summary

Seeking a part-time North Coast Contributing Editor, the role involves crafting impactful stories about the North Coast region of California, including Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte counties, while working remotely and managing an editorial calendar.

Key responsibilities:

• Generate and pitch story ideas across various categories relevant to the North Coast region
• Maintain autonomy in managing an editorial calendar, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with other editorial teams
• Write an average of two features per week, ensuring content resonates with both locals and visitors

Required qualifications:

• 3 to 4 years of relevant experience in writing and editing at a publication or digital media outlet
• Residence in or around the North Coast of California, or in Sacramento with willingness to travel
• Deep knowledge of the North Coast area and its communities
• Passion for journalism and storytelling
• Familiarity with SFGATE's brand and voice
