Norwegian Linguist

Job Summary

Supporting sensitive law enforcement work, the part-time Norwegian Linguist will perform real-time and recorded transcription from Norwegian to English, producing accurate written products and communicating pertinent information to law enforcement personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded communications in Norwegian and produce verbal and written synopses and transcriptions as required
• Build and maintain a master list of slang terms and codes, as well as a voice library for the duration of the project
• Transcribe and translate pertinent calls and documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of translation experience in Norwegian
• Knowledge of Norwegian colloquialisms, slang terms, and regional expressions
• Ability to achieve a score of 3 or better on a third-party language assessment in English and Norwegian
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
