Nuclear Engineering Consultant

Job Summary

To support a nuclear program, the full-time contract Code Validation Experiment Design and Scaling Analysis Consultant will develop scaling methodologies, perform scaling analysis, and mentor engineering teams while working remotely with minimal travel requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and develop scaling methodologies for integral and separate effects testing (IET/SET) in compliance with Regulatory Guide 1.203
• Perform scaling analysis to evaluate the similarity between experiments and the Natrium prototype design
• Mentor TerraPower engineers in experiment design and scaling analysis while participating in verification and validation activities

Required qualifications

• Extensive experience in developing scaling methodology and performing scaling analysis under RG 1.203 requirements
• Deep understanding of Nuclear IETs and/or SETs design and operation for nuclear code validation
• Experience with nuclear safety analysis software such as SAS4A/SASSYS-1, SAM, GOTHIC, RELAP5, TRACE, or MELCOR
• Ph.D. in nuclear engineering or related field with at least 5 years of nuclear experience
• Strong quantitative, analytical, modeling, and reporting skills
