Job Summary
To support the advancement of clean energy, the full-time remote Nuclear Mechanical Engineer will perform fuel performance simulations, develop and implement codes for fuel performance applications, and conduct independent reviews of simulations while collaborating with team members and mentoring junior staff.
Key responsibilities
- Perform simulations and analyses to optimize Lightbridge Fuel design for various reactor types and fuel cycle objectives
- Develop and implement methods and models for fuel performance codes, benchmarking simulations
- Conduct independent reviews of fuel performance simulations and analyses performed by staff or partner organizations
Required qualifications
- BS in Nuclear Engineering or related field with 14 years of experience, MS with 12 years, or PhD with 10 years relevant experience for Principal level; Senior level requires BS with 5+ years, MS with 4+ years, or PhD with 3+ years
- Extensive experience with modeling and simulation using codes such as BISON/MOOSE, ABAQUS, ANSYS, DEFORM, or SOLIDWORKS
- Experience developing thermal-mechanical simulations to support fuel performance analysis
- Working knowledge of neutronics/core design, fuel performance, and seismic analysis
- Ability to access US National Labs and pass background checks and drug screenings
