Job Summary
To support the qualification and licensing of advanced nuclear fuel, the remote Senior/Principal Nuclear Metallurgy Engineer will provide technical leadership for fabrication development activities, oversee R&D efforts with external partners, and ensure alignment with strategic milestones.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for fuel and cladding development projects performed by external research institutions
- Manage and monitor contracted R&D efforts to ensure work is performed within scope, on schedule, and in alignment with program objectives
- Collaborate with partners to analyze, curate, and interpret experimental data related to irradiation and other environmental effects
Required qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in an engineering or science discipline with relevant non-academic experience (8+, 6+, or 4+ years, respectively)
- Strong foundational knowledge of metallurgical processes, including casting and post-casting processes
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing and presentation of engineering analyses and research findings
- Strong working knowledge of radiation materials science, particularly in relation to metals and their properties under irradiation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively identify technical needs
