Nuclear Methods Engineer

Job Summary

Supporting the nuclear methods team, the contract Nuclear Methods Engineer will create documentation for software requirements, improve licensing software, and design sensitivity studies, all while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Create formal documentation of nuclear methods software requirements and support licensing for reactors
• Update and improve software to meet licensing requirements during the Validation and Verification (V&V) process
• Train reactor designers in the use of the design software suite and enhance engineering model-building capabilities

Required qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering with relevant experience
• Experience in nuclear design/analysis methodologies and reactor physics analysis methods
• Proficiency with nuclear engineering software such as MCNP, Serpent, and SCALE
• Strong computational and programming skills in languages like Python and C++
• Knowledge of nuclear methodology interaction with the NRC and understanding of numerical methods
