Job Summary
Managing Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) functions, the remote Nuclear Safeguards Specialist will ensure accurate accountability of special nuclear material throughout the fabrication process while maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the facility's MC&A Plan, including inventory procedures and measurement methods for HALEU metal fabrication
- Perform physical inventories and material measurement/verification for uranium feedstock and finished fuel assemblies
- Lead MC&A-related DOE/NRC inspections and establish training procedures for operations personnel handling special nuclear material
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in nuclear material control and accountability or safeguards at an NRC- or DOE-licensed facility
- Working knowledge of 10 CFR Part 74 and familiarity with Part 73 physical security interfaces
- Experience with material balance accounting and inventory difference resolution
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOE/NRC security clearance
