OBGYN Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support a growing healthcare practice, the full-time remote OBGYN Medical Coder will provide coding and abstracting services for inpatient, outpatient, and clinic visits, utilizing ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 data sets while ensuring compliance with established coding principles.

Key responsibilities

• Review medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures for coding
• Abstract information from medical records based on client guidelines and resolve ambiguities with physicians
• Mentor and provide training to new coders while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines

Required qualifications

• Coding certification such as CPC, COC, CIC, CCA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, or RHIA
• At least 3 years of professional fee and facility coding experience, particularly in OBGYN Clinic & Surgery
• Proficiency in coding Clinic E&M and CPTs
• Experience with coding software such as EPIC, 3M, and 360
• Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding principles and guidelines
