Ohio Licensed Claims Representative

Job Summary

Working remotely but within reasonable distance to the Columbus branch office, the full-time Ohio Licensed Claims Representative will handle liability and property claims under close supervision, ensuring compliance with state insurance laws and regulations while resolving coverage and liability issues.

Key responsibilities

• Investigates and adjudicates claims, verifying coverage and establishing reserves while documenting claim files
• Evaluates and negotiates claims, recognizing subrogation opportunities and issuing payments or declining claims as appropriate
• Maintains knowledge of liability laws and motor vehicle codes, responding to inquiries from policyholders and other parties involved in claims

Required qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with two years of related claims handling or customer service experience, or equivalent educational experience required
• Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred
• Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) preferred
• Ability to obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within specified timeframes
