Job Summary
Working remotely but within reasonable distance to the Columbus branch office, the full-time Ohio Licensed Claims Representative will handle liability and property claims under close supervision, ensuring compliance with state insurance laws and regulations while resolving coverage and liability issues.
Key responsibilities
- Investigates and adjudicates claims, verifying coverage and establishing reserves while documenting claim files
- Evaluates and negotiates claims, recognizing subrogation opportunities and issuing payments or declining claims as appropriate
- Maintains knowledge of liability laws and motor vehicle codes, responding to inquiries from policyholders and other parties involved in claims
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with two years of related claims handling or customer service experience, or equivalent educational experience required
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred
- Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) preferred
- Ability to obtain appropriate licenses as required by state within specified timeframes
