Job Summary
Seeking a full-time Lab Scientist III, the qualified candidate will develop, fabricate, and characterize single-crystal boules for optical applications while supporting an elite interdisciplinary research team at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and evaluate single-crystal and polycrystalline materials for next-generation optical applications
- Investigate relationships between material atomic structure and optical properties, contributing to high-impact research initiatives
- Collaborate with government, academic, and industry partners, and participate in presentations at scientific conferences
Required qualifications:
- PhD in Materials Science & Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field
- 2+ years of research experience in crystal growth or a defense-adjacent laboratory
- Ability to work safely in a wet-chemistry laboratory environment
- Must be a United States Citizen and eligible for accessing classified information
- Experience with crystallographic characterization methodologies and advanced data analysis tools
