Job Summary
To support the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, the contracted to full-time Ohio Licensed Medical Records Coder will perform coding for various medical encounters, ensuring compliance with coding standards and documentation accuracy in a primarily remote work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform coding of inpatient, outpatient, surgery, and diagnostic testing encounters while assigning appropriate codes
- Review medical records for completeness and accuracy, submitting provider queries when necessary
- Participate in coding audits and maintain coding accuracy standards, preparing quality assurance reports
Required qualifications
- Active credential from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC)
- Minimum of two years of continuous coding experience in a Level 1A VA Medical Center or equivalent facility
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Experience with Oracle Health and Solventum CRS Encoder
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and documentation review techniques
