Job Summary
To support cancer registry operations, the full-time Ohio Licensed Oncology Data Specialist will abstract and submit tumor registry data remotely, ensuring compliance with standards while conducting audits and training staff.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct accurate cancer case ascertainment and maintain compliance with the American College of Surgeons and State of Ohio requirements
- Code and index disease stage and treatment information, running audits to ensure data quality
- Assist in training and mentoring cancer registry employees while compiling reports based on registry data for physicians and administration
Required qualifications
- Associate's Degree in allied health or a related field (Required)
- 1+ years of experience in cancer registry, medical records, or coding (Required)
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology (Required)
- Experience in a large academic medical center or multi-hospital health system (Preferred)
- Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification (Required upon hire)
