Ohio Licensed Outpatient Coding Specialist

Job Summary

Responsible for the accurate and timely coding of outpatient and professional medical records, the full-time Ohio Licensed Outpatient Coding Specialist will review patient encounters and assign diagnostic ICD-10-CM and procedural CPT codes while working remotely Monday through Friday.

Key responsibilities:

• Reviews patient encounters and assigns appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes according to established guidelines
• Maintains productivity and quality standards while ensuring compliance with coding regulations
• Participates in ongoing education and maintains up-to-date coding knowledge and credentials

Required qualifications:

• Current Ohio licensure as an Outpatient Coding Specialist
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding systems
• Experience with coding hospital ancillary, ED, same-day surgery, and professional physician services encounters
• Understanding of coding guidelines, regulations, and standards of ethical coding
• Ability to resolve coding-specific edits such as CCI, LCD, NCD, and MUE
